Tom Wye was a premium knitwear brand introduced during the early 1920s, specializing in tailored knit jackets that combined the warmth of a sweater with the appearance of a sport coat. Contemporary advertisements explained that the brand was built around the exclusive "Tom Wye stitch," a proprietary knitting method that produced a close-knit, elastic fabric capable of holding its shape while providing exceptional comfort. The advertisements also claimed that the Wye family had been engaged in the knitting trade for more than 150 years, lending an air of heritage and craftsmanship to the brand. Tom Wye jackets were marketed to both men and women as fashionable garments for sport, leisure, and everyday wear, featuring two- or four-pocket styles in the latest heather colors and fabrics.
