A little history...
RIDCO Overalls were manufactured by the J. C. Ridnour Company, an American workwear manufacturer that specialized in durable clothing for farmers, railroad workers, mechanics, and industrial laborers during the early twentieth century. The company's advertisements emphasized rugged construction and quality with slogans such as "Best by Test," reflecting the era's focus on dependable work garments that could withstand demanding daily use. Like many regional workwear makers, J. C. Ridnour competed with larger brands by promoting heavy-duty denim and canvas overalls that offered long service life and practical features for America's growing industrial and agricultural workforce. Although relatively little survives about the company's early history, its advertisements and surviving garments illustrate its role in supplying dependable clothing during a period when bib overalls were an essential part of the American working wardrobe.
The RIDCO brand eventually disappeared as the workwear industry consolidated during the mid-twentieth century. Larger national manufacturers such as Lee, OshKosh B'Gosh, Carhartt, and Round House expanded their distribution networks and came to dominate the market, making it increasingly difficult for smaller regional producers to compete.
