A little history...
Kow-Kure was a widely advertised livestock remedy introduced during the late nineteenth century for dairy farmers seeking to improve the health and productivity of their herds. Manufactured by the Dairy Association of Norwich, New York, the product was marketed as a powdered feed supplement that could be mixed into a cow's daily ration. Advertisements claimed it helped prevent and treat common dairy ailments such as abortion (miscarriage), barrenness, retained afterbirth, indigestion, scours, loss of appetite, and reduced milk production. The company promoted Kow-Kure through farm journals, newspapers, and agricultural fairs, often offering free educational booklets to farmers as a way to build trust and encourage sales. By the early 1900s, Kow-Kure had become a familiar name among American dairy producers, with advertisements appearing across the United States and Canada.
The advertisement shown here reflects the era's emphasis on increasing farm efficiency by keeping livestock healthy and productive.
